Magma is different from other poetry magazines because each issue has a different editor. The editorship circulates among the group that runs the magazine, with an occasional guest editor. Each editor brings their particular interests, resulting in poems and emphases that no-one else in the group could have predicted. This also means that poets probably have more chance of being published in Magma than other comparable magazines because different editors have a wider range of tastes than individual ones.
