Hardcover / Modern half-leather bound to the style of the 18th-century with spinelabels. Both Volumes in protective Mylar and now housed in a bespoke Solander Box. Very good condition with some minor signs of wear only to the edges and two tiny lesions to the titlepage of the first Volume. Faded dampstain to some pages of the lower bookblock of Volume II. While the bookblock is generally used and has the occasional very faint stain and a minor tear to a page, the set is in very good or even better condition ! Extremely scarce !

The ephemeral items include an advertising card for this publication from “The Leicester Galleries, London” , The Monthly Letter of the Limited Editions Clb from July, 1939, Number 119. The printed Letter’s title was: “If there are Four Hitlers” / Also included is a pamphlet of the Limited Editions Club on the artwork of John Farleigh.

Including a lenghty section mentioning the Irish Subscribers to this Dictionary with name and town. Hardcover / Original 18th century full leather with original, red spine-label with gilt lettering. In protective Mylar. Binding rubbed and with some minor loss to leather. The binding firm and strong and endpapers and pastdeowns intact and NOT cracked ! Small signs of a faded dampstain without any consequence to the very good condition throughout. One page with a tear (Letter G). The unpaginated section was collated as complete.

The etchings all protected by their original tissue guards. A stunning publication of a wonderful West Cork – Artist. A must-have for all collector’s of rare and signed Somerville & Ross collectables, this find is simply an unusual occurance because the artwork was originally designed to be framed. One usually never finds this edition with the artwork still in its original folder !

Printed in a limited edition of 100 copies of which this is number 60. Very Scarce document of Dorothy Cole’s love for art and poetry, citing a line from John Montague: “‘Like Dolmens round my Childhood, the old people”. The publication is further elevated by the fact that Patrick Scott designed the blindstamped cover and overall presentation of this book.
