The History of Greece. [The very rare Large Paper Quarto-Edition / Together with the later Octavo Edition].

Five Volumes (complete set). London, Printed by Luke Hansard & Sons, near Lincoln’s-Inn Fields for T.Cadell and W. Davies, in the Strand, 1808 – 1818. Quarto (22.3 cm wide x 27.7 cm high). Pagination: Volume I: VII, 590 pages / Volume II: VIII, 551 pages / Volume III: VIII, 572 pages / Volume IV: XII, 647 pages plus Errata / Volume V: XI, 565, [3] pages. Hardcover / Original, full 19th century leather with gilt lettering and ornament on spine and boards. All boards firm and sturdy attached with only Volume III and IV with minor traces of splitting to upper spine but firmly holding. Volume IV with minor loss to upper spine. Overall better than very good condition with some signs of external wear in form of lesions to the leather. All Volumes in expertly applied, protective Mylar. The interior of this set in stunning condition. Very unusual and rare set, the only complete Quarto-Version on the international market. From the library of Daniel Conner (Connerville / Manch House), with his Exlibris / Bookplate to pastedown. [Important: This set also comes with the important 1835-edition of “The History of Greece” – From the Earliest Period to the Death of Agesilaus. By William Mitford but continued to the Death of Alexander the Great by R.A.Davenport. A reading-copy with some defect but an important addition to the rare Quarto-set (8 Volumes, London, 1835) (see images)].
