Victorian Food and Natural remedies – [with an early household remedy suggestion against Diphtheria: “A Remedy for Diphtheria” (Sulphur)] – Manuscript-Recipe-Diary with more than 250 handwritten manuscript recipes on 121 pages and 32 loosely inserted additional manuscript pages. The diary has 264 pages in total and an Index on page 264. While the majority of the recipes are on food and drink, there are numerous medical recipes, remedies for simple but also serious illnesses either loosely inserted or pasted to the pages; numerous printed recipes from newspapers with tips and tricks on preservation of meat, remedies to avoid sea-sickness, “The [Homoeopathic] Treatment of English and Asiatic Cholera” / “Dropsy” [Oedema] / “The Danger of Gas-Baths”, a stern note on “Cocaine and Sleeplessness”, “A Remedy for Diphteria” (Sulphur), “List for arsenic in wall papers” / “Cough Mixtures for Bronchitis” / “Influenza Poison” / Mr.Sidney Bennet for Rheumatism / etc. There is even a description for a double-crochet shawl by a Mrs. Whichcote. All these recipes were collected between roughly 1859 (dated Beef Tea recipe on page 7) and 1880. The wonderfully detailed recipes for food include for example: Gluten Bread free from Starch to diabetic patients / Souffle Potatoes / Irish way of dressing potatoes (p.51) / Ginger Pudding / Savoies Pigeon Pie / Ivory Jelly / To cook a Ham / A German Pastry / Apple Cheese Cakes / How to preserve meat (old newspaper-article pasted in) etc. etc. (see more recipes below).

England, Anonymous, c.1859 – 1904. Octavo. 266 handnumbered pages with 121 pages filled and 32 loosely inserted recipes. Contemporary, very decorative 19th century Hardcover with the original boards but recently professionally rebacked by an english master bookbinder. Excellent condition with only minor signs of external wear. This rare compilation [possibly compiled by a Mrs. J. S. Stone or Mrs. Church or Miss S.R. Monckton], is a true gem and collector’s item and also a well of information for veterinary homeopathic tinctures, old recipes against rheumatism, chilblaines (pages 256 and 257). Neuralgia, Cholera (page 251), Dr.Barry for Diarrhea and Neuralgia etc. etc.

Bräuer, Camillo / [Wiener Spitze / Kirchberg in Sachsen].

Manuskript mit dem Titel: “Verzeichnis über altes & neues Inventar für Ludwig Camillo Bräuer” – “Aufgestellt mitte Mai 1878”. Neben dem Manuskript, welches sich im hinteren Drittel des Bandes befindet und welches das Inventar der bekannten Gastwirtschaft “Wiener Spitze” verzeichnet (Gegenstände fuer die Wirtschaft”), diente dieser Band als Manuskript-Klatte / Handschriftliches Album mit Übungsheft des Camillo Bräuer mit Beispielen zum Verfassen von Contracten, Korrespondenz, Rechtschreibung etc.

Original, Esoteric, Jewish Biblical & Astrological Prophecy Manuscript / Astrology – Occulta – Manuscript on c. 400 pages with an astonishing, meticulous Chronology and source-comparison on Prophecy, Pyramidology [″Mystery of the Great Pyramid”], Numerology, Astronomy, Astrology, Drawings and Plans of Pyramids versus Occult – Proof and meditations on the Number 666 and 888: “666 v 888 in relation to Israel”, “the opposing numbers from the original Hebrew with the “Pi sign” etc. etc. The Manuscript reads like a Self-Instruction and Proof of Thought by an Esoteric, highly religious “Truth-Seeker”, ranging from early Biblical Explanations of Historical Events to elaborate comparisons of “Bible Metallurgy” showing the “relation between practical metal work and the Bible” by comparing the architectural design of a “Blast Furnace” to “The Image of Daniel”, and continuing all the way to explanations for the Rise of Tyrants like Hitler. “Great Pi—Ratio in regard to Great War”, the “Atomic Scale” is discussed as well as the “Luciferian Sudama or Nigode Cave Temple”. The amount of connections to Jewish History is interesting: “Tracing Israel to Britain by Old Coinage”, “The Jewish Question”, “Testimony of Men of Letters as to Nationality of the British Race”, “Objections to British Israel” “The Statesmanship of Jesus”, “Fulness of the Gentiles”, “Reference to the lost House of Israel”, “Battle of the Gold Standard” etc. etc.

[Brixton], c. 1935 – 1950. Octavo (19 cm x 22,5 cm). 362 pages plus 58 pages, later inserted between page 304 and 305, plus XVIII pages of a thorough Index. With numerous illustrations and diagrams throughout the manuscript. Original Hardcover – Binder with manuscript / autographed pages. Very good condition with some minor signs of wear only. “Peel”-Memo Binder with Name-Label of the author to pastedown: “Walter T Rowe, 106, Dalberg Road, Brixton, SW2”.
