An Inquiry into the Share which King Charles I had in the transactions of the Earl of Glamorgan, afterwards Marquis of Worcester, for bringing over a Body of Irish Rebels to assist that King, in the Years 1645 and 1646. In which Mr.Carte’s imperfect Account of that Affair, and his Use of the MS. Memoirs of the Pope’s Nuncio Rinuccini, are impartially considered. The whole drawn up from the Best Authorities, Printed and Manuscript. The Second Edition; to which is added an Appendix, containing several Letters of the King to the Earl of Glamorgan, from the Originals in the Harleian Library of Manuscripts.

Attractive hardcover [publisher’s original purple cloth] with gilt lettering and ornamental design on spine. Gilt lettering and richly decorative tooling on front board. Blind tooling on back board also. Pebbled boards. All edges gilt. Very good condition with only minor signs of external wear. Cloth frayed at spine head and tail. Slight cracking to gutter between front pastedown and endpaper. Binding still very good and firm. Some foxing to endpapers. Interior very clean and bright. Some untrimmed pages. Handwritten message on front endpaper reads “A Prize gained by Louisea Mells for Progress in her French studies, Xmas. 1869. Magdalen House.” An extremely rare, rather scarce, early publication by an Irish Woman Traveller in Africa who also lived and helped through the Irish Famine and was not only an early Feminist but also one of the first members of the Suffragette Movement.

Hardcover / Excellent, recent half-leather binding in protective Mylar. Very good condition with only minor signs of wear. The half-leather slightly stained but all in wonderful condition. The original bookblock uncut. A very rare and interesting publication on Druidism / Text in latin with some german elements.

A very rare find, this is one of the more elusive periodicals of the early 19th century, printed just after the Act of Union in 1800 was established and printed by english printer Luke Hansard for publishers and printers in London, Dublin and Cork.

First and only Edition. [Cork], [1807]. Quarto. Frontispice – Watercolour, 147 pages with several of the pages misbound but complete. Private Half-Leather. Binding and Volume overall in very poor condition. Wide margins, formerly stitched. The Volume ahas all the trademarks of a working-copy, which could explain the stunning Watercolour as Frontispice (or even as titlepage). Faded dampstain to upper margins. While the Volume is rough, it has the typical charme of an underestimated, very rare publication by a local Cork poet [which is manifested by Milliken dedicating the work to the members of the Cork Library Society at the time]. This Volume is of utmost rarity.
