Hardcover [very decorative, original publisher’s green cloth] with gilt lettering on spine and front board. Front board is inlaid with illustration. Rear board is inlaid with coat of arms and flags of the South African (Transvaal) Republic and the Orange Free State. Excellent, actually stunning / Fine condition with only absolutely minor signs of external wear. Interior is very bright and clean with sharp corners.

Original hand-coloured engraving. Amsterdam, Schenk, [c.1700]. Plate Size: 58 cm x 46.5 cm. Sheet Size: 60.2 cm x 51.7 cm. Original map. In good- condition. Browning evident as is a tear near lower centre fold. Some inked underlining to place names. Minor inked numeration in margin at top right corner. Slight crease on verso sheet. Discreet duplicate stamp from library in Poland on reverse.

Moluccae Insulae Celeberrimae.

Original hand-coloured engraving. Amsterdam, Blaeu, [c.1650]. Plate Size: 48.9 cm x 37.1 Sheet Size: 53.5 cm x 45.3 cm. Original map. Good+ condition only. Some browning evident. Very minor tear barely noticeable to lower edge at center fold. Minor open tear to top left corner of sheet. Still a collectible version of this map. Centre fold as issued. Map orientated with north pointing to the right. Latin text on reverse.

Including three fold-out maps (Central and South Africa / Africa before Livingstone’s Journeys / Africa by discovery or report after Livingstone’s last researches were published 1874). Hardcover [publisher’s original navy cloth] with lettering and design on spine and front board. Frontispiece and one illustration cleanly detached but loosely inserted. Otherwise in very good- condition with only minor signs of external wear. Occasional spotting to edges and foxing throughout. [ “Pioneer” Library ]
