Original Woodcuts / Originaler Holzschnitt auf 11 Blatt in Folio-Format. [Germany], 1945. 26 cm x 39 cm. Excellent condition. Extremely rare and unlisted work of original art, signed and dated by a possibly german artist, named Winfried Walter, signed “WIWA”. In one woodcut the words “Poce – Poce” are seen on a wall. The elaborate run of woodcuts are strikingly depicting the sorrows of Refugees from War, Families leaving their Home, Soldiers marching, Cities in Flames, Dead Horses slaughtered for food, but also death walking away, beaten by the resilience of new beginnings etc.

Portrait-Frontispiece, 214, Portrait Frontispiece, 208 pages plus Index for both quarterly parts with listing of all engravings, scores of original pieces of music, portraits, engravings of the latest, “newest” Parisian Costumes etc. Original Hardcover / 19th – century half leather with gilt lettering on spine. With 11 instead of 23 full-page illustrations of which some included are not called for and others seem to have never been part of the collection. Some minor signs of wear only, a few very faint signs of foxing, a little dusty endpapers but especially the text and illustrations all in generally very good or even better condition with some minor signs of wear only. Extremely Rare !

Original Hardcover (Half leather with gilt lettering on spine. Stronger rubbed binding but firm. Endpaper ,missing and titlepage with larger tear. But otherwise in good condition (slightly stained only). From the library of irish architect and architectural historian Rudolf Maximilian Butler. Exlibris of R.M.Butler to pastedown. The 1845 edition is more common and this 1852 edition is now a rare publication !
