With engraved title-vignette showing the murder of Saint Godelieve; with the title-vignette repeated on page one of the text and three further fold-out-illustrations (collation complete). Modern Hardcover (dark calf over marbled-paper-covered-boards) and new endpapers. Halftitle letter-press-text laid down an endpaper that precedes the title page. After the restoration and new binding the original bookblock is beautifully preserved and the whole volume in excellent condition with only minor signs of external wear and some browning to a few pages. Very rare Hagiography of poor Godelieve, who was martyred by the servants of her angry husband because she preferred to become a nun rather than marry.

The armorial binding is containing the rare fifth edition of the important Prayer – Guide by english Theologian, Hymn-writer and Logician, Isaac Watts: “A Guide to Prayer : Or A Free and Rational Account of the Gift, Grace and Spirit of Prayer; With plain Directions how every Christian may attain them”.

Manuscript entry “Ruth Corker Her Book 1731” on halftitle with several entries informing on marriages and relationships within the Falkiner and Corker and Robinson – family added obviousy by a later relative (Ruth Robinson, who was married to Robert Robinson).
