The National Library of Ireland has undertaken the preparation of sets of facsimile documents on themes relating to aspects of school curriculum; the present set on Daniel O’Connell is the third in the series to be published. These documents are all contemporary with the events to which they relate and they are intended to give more immediate and more interesting insights into the life and times of O’Connell than those provided by accounts in history books…These facsimiles are mainly a selection from an exhibition presented in the National Library by Mr. Gerard Lyne, M.A., Assistant Keeper, for the bi-centenary of Daniel O’Connell in 1975. One item, Facsimile 15, is from the files of the Chief Secretary’s Office at the State Paper Office, Dublin Castle, and is used here by courtesy of Mr. Brendan Mac Giolla Choille, M.A., Keeper of State Papers.
