This is not a guide-book. I have merely tried to create in others the impression that the different parts of Ireland have made on myself.
So many people assisted and encourage me that I cannot take the risk of mentioning any individual lest through an oversight I might cause some other to think me ungrateful, which, indeed, I am not, but full of wonder at the unselfish kindness of a host of old and new friends.
A few necessary corrections and slight additions have been made to this, the third edition. Some illustrations have been removed and others substitued. But the book is substantially the same. (Preface)
