[Naylor, Verney & David].

Two original Wild-Flower Herbals with Wild-Flowers of which some have medicinal properties (Arnica). The original Plants in these two Herbals were collected by Garden Designer Verney Naylor in the Pyrenees in June-July, 1979 as well as an additional Wild-Flower Herbal, collected by Verney Naylor in the Rocky Mountains of Western Alberta and by her husband, Geologist David Naylor, in the North-West Territories and the Yukon in the year 1966 during a geological Excursion. Both Herbals with Manuscript Notes by Verney Naylor.

Alberta / Yukon / Pyrenees, Octavo. Hardcover Binders. Very good condition with only minor signs of wear. Very rare original plant-herbal.

Herbal I – “Pyrenean Wild Flowers – collected by Verney Naylor in June-July, 1979”:

This Herbal includes original plant specimens from the following localities (see here below the original notes by Verney Naylor):

Western Pyrenees:

1. Pic de la Saqette (c.1900m altitude with steepy grassy slope, near the top of the cable car)
2. Lac d’Artouste (c.1989m altitude with snow just melting from Alpine meadow near lake. Granite.
3. Lac de Bious-Artigues – Path from Lake up to Lac’d’Ayous (1700 – 1900 m). Through steep woods and out onto Alpine Meadow.

Central Pyrenees:

4. Cirque de Gavarnie 1570m – Path from Village 1357m through woods to Cirque and onto Alpine Meadow + Steep Slopes – snow still melting.
5. Vallée d’Ossau – Walk along gave d’ossone through woods and onto dry stoney track above tree line. Limestone common.

Andorra:

6. Vall d’Incles – near Soldeu – wet marshy sloping fields

Eastern Pyrenees:

7. Road between Puigcerdà and Seo de Urgel (La Seu d’Urgell) in Spain. Long dry stoney valley (c.900 m altitude)
8. Dorres – near Font Romeu (c.1700 m. altitude) – Granite
9. Vallée d’Eyne – c. 1700 m on slopes of Cambras d’Azé (Pyrénées-Orientales) – Path up stream valley through woods and onto stoney slopes.
10. Foret de la Matte – North of Mont Louis (c.1600 m altitude) – Pine Forests.
