This is a fine collection from Elizabeth Jennings who was a major English poet writing in the second half of the twentieth century. Her work is understated and largely traditional in form and she was often grouped with the Movement poets whose work was seen as a reaction to Modernism. She lived and worked in Oxford, dying in a residential home in 2001.
