Peter Harbison (born 1939) is an Irish archaeologist and member of the Royal Irish Academy. In this book he provides an account of Beranger and Bigari’s antiquarian sketching tour of Connacht in 1779. Harbison draws from material in the National Library of Ireland and the Royal Irish Academy. It includes some excellent photographs by Josephine Shields and offers insight into the monuments described and the lives of ordinary people encountered on the way.
