Bruno O’Donoghue of Bandon, a life-long enthusiast in the field of Irish literature as well as a dedicated student of the Irish language for many years and who in 1961 published in book form ‘West Cork and its Story’ and ‘West Cork, Parish Histories and Place Names’, both of which had been written and published in serial form by Jeremiah O’Mahony a decade previous, now presents the findings of his research into the elucidation of the various place names from over 3,000 townlands in 114 parishes of the south-west extremity of our country.
