From the library of american physicist Gerald Holton, with his name in pencil on front cover as well as “Smyth Report” on spine. Some further annotations in pencil inside the book on pages I, 115 and 127.
Author was Chairman of the Department of Physics of Princeton University, Consultant to Manhattan District U.S. Corps of Engineers. The report was written at the request of Major General L.R. Groves, United States Army. It has thirteen chapters in all covering the history and progress of the development of atomic energy with particular application to the military in the early to mid 1900s.
