C.P. Fitzgerald lived in China for most of the periods 1923 to 1939 and 1946 to 1950 when he was the representative of the British Council in North China. Later he became Professor of Far Eastern History in the Australian National University, Canberra. This publication is a reprint of the original 1964 publication which itself was an updated and revised edition of the title Revolution in China.
