Marie Louise Abraham Bruggeman curated the Bogor Botanical Gardens in Jakarta in the early to mid 20th Century. In C.1940 she had collaborated with Van Dorp’s bookshop, Bandung to publish Indische Tuinbloemen for which one had to collect individul pictures of the flowers named in the book. For every picture purchased the purchaser recieved a seed for that flower. So popular was this publication that Van Dorp’s sold over one million seeds. (excerpt from mooibandoeng.com)
The beautiful colour prints depicting the plants and flowers were by the Indonesian illustrator Ojong Soerjadi.
