Set in 19th century Spain Doña Perfecta tells the story of an arranged marriage thwarted by the local Catholic priest with all the usual misunderstandings, backstabbing and revenge that ensues in such stories. Unfortunately our young lovers come to a sad end with the suiter dying, possibly arranged by the potential mother in law (the Doña Perfecta of the title), and his amour being committed to a mad house. / Several adaptations have been made of this story for both big and small screens.
