Many of the Photographs with Notes to the rear, explaining locations and the circumstances of the locations and photographs taken.

The Volume itself in excellent condition with only minor signs of wear. Easily one of the most beautiful Nude – Photography Volumes of the 20th century. Here available in a very rare condition ! Private gift-inscription to endpaper: “To George with love, Isobel – Xmas 1956”.

94. Le Brocquy, Louis.

Personal copies of an early set of 18 photographs [contacts] of works by Louis le Brocquy, mostly titled and annotated / explained by Louis le Brocquy himself verso. Some of the photographs refer to very early works of Louis le Brocquy. Some have no entries by le Brocquy verso, some have quite extensive manuscript-information in Louis le Brocquy’s hand like “Sold to:…..” etc. etc. / Also included is an original, very early exhibition catalogue (Louis le Brocquy’s personal copy of the catalogue) for an exhibition in Mayfair/″Gimpel Fils” – November 1959. The catalogue has several annotations and underlinings in Louis le Brocquy’s hand and included are most of the original photographs of works le Brocquy selected for the printing of the catalogue.

Very good condition with only minor signs of external wear. A stunning, really original set of interesting ephemera from the artist’s personal collection, given to his friend John Montague. Provenance: From the private collection of John Montague’s papers in his recently sold West Cork Home.

The Trinidad Portfolio – Sixteen Pictures (Original Photographs / Photogravures on heavy paper, showing Trinidad Carnival, Trinidad Nature, Port-of-Spain-Harbour, The Queen’s Park Hotel, People of Trinidad (East Indian Silversmith), Teteron Bay, Santa Cruz Valley, Macqueripe Bay, Mardi Gras Carnival etc.) – The sixteen Photographs are all placed in the original Folder, titled: “Trinidad – British West Indies” and with the blindstamped aluminium-seal “″Miscerique probat populos et fœdera jungi” [which translated as “He approves of the mingling of peoples and their being joined together by treaties”].

Trinidad, The Tourist and Exhibitions Board of Trinidad and Tobago [Printed in England], no year (c.1945-1950). 23 cm wide x 31 cm high. 16 original photogravures inside the original Folder, issued by the Tourist and Exhibitions Board of Trinidad and Tobago. The 16 Photographs measure: 22.7 cm x 30.3 cm (some are oblong-formats some in portrait-format). Softcover / Original Folder. Very good condition with only minor signs of external wear. The aluminium – seal slightly bent. Interior and photographs in absolutely excellent condition. Extremely scarce !

But since John Minihan has sold the rights to most of his iconic images to UCC in Cork, none of the photographs are reprinted by the photographer and that makes this combination of the signed Seamus Heaney photograph, combined with the First Day Cover, signed actually on August 28th of 2014, very scarce. We have an edition of 3 (three) left. One is part of the “John Minihan Photography Collection”, which we are selling on our website (see under “Libraries & Collections”) and two are for sale on the free international market. The here offered, beautifully framed version, is the one which belongs to the John Minihan Collection and will only sell together with the collection.
