Original, very decorative half – leather with gilt lettering on spine and original spine-labels. All Volumes from the library of a “Robert Barker”, with his Exlibris. Minor signs of wear only. All Volumes with some slight foxing and very few with a faded dampstain but all Volumes also firm and in very good or even better condition with some minor signs of wear only. Excellent paper and typography. A wonderful reading experience of classics like Ivanhoe.

A very rare find, this is one of the more elusive periodicals of the early 19th century, printed just after the Act of Union in 1800 was established and printed by english printer Luke Hansard for publishers and printers in London, Dublin and Cork.

Minor scuffing and rubbing. Overall in very good condition with only minor signs of external wear. Halftitle present but front free endpaper missing. Text in excellent condition. Exlibris / Bookplate of Daniel Conner to pastedown. Extremely Rare and important publication with early remarks on Gender Equality and a lengthy section on the justification of Slavery.

Hardcover / Modern half-leather with gilt lettering on spine and paper-covered boards. In bespoke made clamshell-box / solander-box. Beautifully restored and bound by a master bookbinder. Including the original endpapers and the original half-title. Front free endpaper and halftitle with dampstain to lower corner only. Dampstain in lower corner of the titlepage only faintly present. One of the rarest titles of Irish Literature and one of the rarest, early gothic-novels / horror-novels. Absolutely scarce and in excellent condition after the beautiful restoration.

Golestan [Gulistan / Rose Garden] – Original 19th century printed version in Persian / Farsi with some contemporary manuscript notes in pencil. Complete title: Great praise and admiration be upon the Creator of the earth, human kind and spirit Infinite blessings and greetings to the God’s beloved court that in this time with the songs of nightingale in the magic and harmonious flower garden of Honourable Sheikh Saadi Shirazi, may God have mercy on him, and great acknowledgement of the book Golestan. Thanks to the great number of believers, God’s follower Qazi Ibrahim Hajji, the noble pious Hajji Qazi Nour Mohammad Milpabadi and Nour-e-Din Bin Heikhakhan, for the second time.

Bombay, In the Printing House Heydari, 1875. Octavo. 252 pages. Hardcover / Contemporary 19th century half leather with marbled paper-covered boards. It is clear from three consecutive little wholes to the bookblock that this version of the Rose Garden was previously bound as a blockbook and rebound in 19th century boards. First 9 and last 7 pages with a faded stain, possibly from the glue of a former wrapper. Otherwise in very good condition with only minor signs of external wear. Some occasional manuscript notes in pencil in english.

Of utmost rarity. Already in the first chapter, Haliburton uses the technique of literary fiction in order to speak about the ability to travel everywhere (in mid 19th century)….″The Grand Tour now means a voyage round the Globe…” / Haliburton, known to have been “eager to promote immigration to the colonies of British North America” tries to entice to Travel. The Chapter “An Evening in Cork” talks about the narrator to “accompany my old college friend Cary to Monkstown in Ireland…..unlike my gruff and inhospitable countrymen, I advise you, when at Cork, to remain there, till you have ‘done’ the city and its environs and then to sail down the River…”.
