Collection of Printed Materials / Offprints / Publications / Papers, Essays by english geologist, William Daniel Gill (1916 – 1922). This extensive collection of materials, authored by this eminent geologist, was part of the Reference-library of his colleague David (Dave) Naylor. You find a detailed account of the publications at the end of this description. The collection also includes the original offprint of his landmark-publication “Sand Volcanoes on Slumps in the Carboniferous of County Clare, Ireland”, which he authored together with P.H.Kuehnen in 1957.

It was sold to us from the private collection of geologist Dave Naylor who had this set gifted to him by William Daniel Gill. Inscribed by Fereydoun Sahabi on the endpaper: “To Professor W.D.Gill with best compliments – F. Sahabi – Jan. 1967”. One of the extremely Rare publications on the Geology of Kuwait !

Collection of two (2) large boxes with rare and sometimes inscribed, Printed Materials and very rare Geological Surveys with Maps (for example it includes the very rare Geological Survey of Iran) from the private Reference- library of Geologist Prof. David (Dave) Naylor regarding Kuwait, Iraq (near Basrah), Lebanon, Jordan (Halat Ammar and Al Mudawwara), Jordan in general, Arava Valley (Dead Sea). These materials are all publications, sometimes official government papers or maps or academic publications from fellow geologists as well as for example official publications of talks given for OAPEC. All publications are revolving around the evaluation of Petroleum Deposits, Petroleum Geology and Stratigraphy or Hydrocarbon in the “Near and Middle East” – Maps and Charts and offprints, all of them rare publications and some only reprinted for private circulation. The Geology of the West Mackenzie Coastal Area / The Mackenzie Delta, Arctic Canada Canada / Collection of Manuscript and Typescript Material as well as original proofs and notes for the publication by Naylor and Tebbutt, with handwritten annotations and a large collection of important geological Maps of Canada’s Geology, among which is also the stunning, enormous, hand-coloured Surface Geology-Map of the Norman Wells Area in the Mackenzie River Delta which measures 152 cm (width) x 106 cm (height) and which was published in 1965.

Vintage Maps in Colour-Print, Lithographs, Black-and-white etc. Including a large hand-coloured Map of the Norman Wells Area, accompanying the publication by Naylor and Tebbutt on the Expedition into the West Mackenzie Coastal Area. (Canada), (c.1968). Maps ranging from sizes A4 to Folio to 152 cm x 106 cm. Excellent condition with minor signs of wear. Very rare and special collection of a landmark – excursion into the Mackenzie Delta and Arctic Canada under the leadership of David (Dave) Naylor as Party Chief of the Field Crew, accompanied by Senior Geologists G.E.Tebbutt, D.J.McIntyre, D.Mason as well as Junior Geologists R.Procter, L.S.Eliuk, K.Dahlman, C.M.James, D.R.Ojakangas. The party planned to stay at Camp Sites in Inuvik but moved it to Shingle Point and from there to Norman Wells.
