Hardcover / Original, very decorative full 19th century calf with gilt lettering on original, red spinelabel. Binding and interior in unusually excellent condition. Only a very small lesion (fraying) to the outer margins of three pages.

Some rubbing to corners and spine. Interior, pages and titlepage in excellent condition and very clean. Signed and dated by the preowner in the year 1847 (″JSA” or “HA”). Extremely Rare !

To which are now added, In an Alphabetical Order, All the Statutes now in Force in England and Ireland, (since Sir Richard Bolton published his said Treatise) which concern the Office of a Justice of Peace for Ireland, both in and out of Sessions. Faded dampstain. Interior and binding firm and overall in very good condition. Bookplate of Richard Meade of Ballymartle to pastedown. Richard Meade’s full name in ink to endpaper.

Original Hardcover / Full 18th century calf with new spine-label. The binding firm and in excellent condition. Important: Several strong puncture – wounds to the first 54 and last 60 pages (without loss of text). Some occasional staining but text overall clean. A very rare Sarah Cotter print from 18th century Dublin. Although no sign of it, the book came from the library of Daniel Conner (Connerville / Manch House).

Hardcover / Contemporary 18th century calf with gilt lettering on spine. Stunning Volume, recently restored and rebacked by two english master-binders. Very good+ condition with only minor signs of external wear. After the restoration now a highly-desirable collectable. One of the first sociological studies of conditions within the penal system of England and Ireland compared to other 18th-century practices within European Jails / Gaols. The partly romantic engravings seem sinister when one imagines what inmates and children endured within these settings.
