Very good condition with only minor signs of external wear. Scoff marks to front board. Rubbing to head and heel of spine. Some foxing to interior but otherwise clean and bright. Binding and book-block firm and strong. Preowner’s name on both pastedowns.

Major Chaplin Court Treatt was instrumental in constructing aerodromes on a British Air Ministry Cape-to-Cairo Air Route. Together with his wife Stella travelled, according to a Crossley Motors promotional brochure, 12732 miles from Cape Town to Cairo.

The Treatt trip was the first successful trip by “road” from Cape Town to Cairo. It took place in 1924.
Stella, an author and filmmaker, wrote an account of the trip called, ‘Cape to Cairo: The Record of a Historic Motor Journey’ (1927)
