Excellent condition with only minor signs of external wear. The plates in excellent condition with only very minor signs of foxing. Very Rare publication !

The Drawings include for instance the following examples of Classic Ornament: The upper part or cresting of a stele or Greek tombstone in white marble / A Stele, formerly at the Piraeus (formerly belonging to M. Gropius, Austrian Consul) / The antefix, or ornamental termination of the covering tiles of the marble roof of the Parthenon / The cymatium of the doorway of the North Portico of the Erectheum which led to the Temple of Erectheus / One of the three scrolls or helics which surmount the marble roof of the monument of Lysicrates / The left hand portion of the cresting of a tomb in white marble, which was found just outside the Hieron of Epidauros / A series of various fragments in Trera – Cotta / Capitals of square piers found in the sanctuary of the Temple of Athene Polias at Priene (When first discovered by the Society of Dilettanti, it was thought that they might be the capitals of the piers carrying the ceiling of the Propylaea) / The capital of one of the antae of the shrine in which the bronze statue of Apollo was placed in the Temple of Apollo Didymaeus at Branchidae, near Miletus / etc. etc.

Lewis Vulliamy (15 March 1791 – 4 January 1871) was an English architect belonging to the Vulliamy family of clockmakers.
Lewis Vulliamy was the brother of the clockmaker Benjamin Vulliamy. He was born in Pall Mall, London on 15 March 1791, and articled to Sir Robert Smirke. He was admitted to the Royal Academy Schools in 1809, where he won the silver medal the year after for an architectural drawing, and the gold medal in 1813. He was elected Royal Academy travelling student in 1818, after which he studied abroad for four years, mostly in Italy, but also visiting Greece and Asia Minor. He was a great-uncle of the art potter Blanche Georgiana Vulliamy. Vulliamy died at Clapham Common, on 4 January 1871. (Wikipedia)
