Hardcover [publisher’s original dark green cloth] with gilt lettering on front board. Very good condition with only minor signs of external wear. Interior bright and clean. Binding strong and firm. Front pastedown carries bookplate of the Linnean Society of London – dated February 1922. Tipped into the endpaper is a Pro forma-‘with compliments’ letter to the Linnean Society’s Librarian from The Crown Agents for the Colonies on behalf of the Government of Kenya.
Volume is a catalogue of the more common trees, shrubs and woody plants of the Colony. It was compiled from material collected by past and present members of the Forest Department of Kenya.
Nearly all the species described were determined at the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, from herbarium specimens forwarded to that institution.
