Original Hardcover with original dustjacket in protective Mylar. Harry Luke’s (Lukach) personal copy. Very good condition with only minor signs of external wear.

Includes loosely inserted a newspaper-clipping which Sir Harry Luke kept inside the book on “The Knights of St.John in the British Realm”. The clipping was sent to Sir Harry Luke from “Durrant’s Press Cuttings and is titled “Talk of the Town”, dated 15 Dec. 1942.

The cutting reads:

″In Malta’s Honour – On Saturday at 49 Gosvenor Street, Mr.Edward Ellul, a prominent member of the Maltese colony here, will speak to the Poets’ Club on the Poetry and Language of the Maltese people. The gathering promises to be very distinguished. The poets will welcome as ther guests General Sir William Dobbie, Lady Dobbie, Lieut.-Col. A.V.Agius, Malta’s Trade Commissioner in London, Sir Harry Luke, who was Lieut.-Governor of Malta from 1930 to 1938 and Lady Luke. Mr.Arthur Vassallo, Maltese poet and writer, will read some of his poems in Maltese and in translation.” (The clipping shows a photograph of Lady Dobbie)
