In the here included letter, in which Peter Luke writes to his father’s address on Barbados, Peter Luke also writes about his brother Micky, Michael Luke, (Peter Luke tells his father of his brother Micky’s visit to him in London: ’(he) has given up what he describes as steady employment in Paris for a somewhat doubtful opportunity of getting a part in a movie over here’).
Peter Luke (August 12, 1919 – January 23, 1995) was a British writer, editor, and producer. Peter Ambrose Cyprian Luke was born in St Albans, he was the first son of Harry Luke. He had wanted to be a painter, and went to art school for 2 years before World War II occurred. He was awarded the Military Cross for his efforts. Some time after, he worked under producer Sydney Newman on the British television drama anthology Armchair Theatre, as a story editor. In 1959, he adapted Frederick Rolfe’s novel Hadrian the Seventh. He was married to Carola Peyton-Jones (deceased), then Lettice Crawshaw (one daughter, one son deceased; marriage dissolved [Lettice Georgina Jane CRAWSHAW née LANE – born 02.06.1911]), and finally June Tobin ([1963-1995] two sons, three daughters).
