The story revolves around three main characters and their ill fated attempt at a long distance aviation record trying to reach Hong Kong from Britain. Wood engraving titles: The Pe-shan / The Bird / The Fire / The Chinese Moth / Locusts Hatching.
David Garnett was a prominent member of the Bloomsbury Group whose first wife Rachel “Ray” Marshall is the artist credited with the wood engravings in this book.
David Garnett (9 March 1892 – 17 February 1981) was a British writer and publisher. As a child, he had a cloak made of rabbit skin and thus received the nickname “Bunny”, by which he was known to friends and intimates all his life. (Wikipedia)
