Very good- condition with only minor signs of external wear and tear. From the library of Toronto Professor of English Literature, Jerome H. Buckley, with his name on endpaper.

The story revolves around three main characters and their ill fated attempt at a long distance aviation record trying to reach Hong Kong from Britain. Wood engraving titles: The Pe-shan / The Bird / The Fire / The Chinese Moth / Locusts Hatching.

David Garnett was a prominent member of the Bloomsbury Group whose first wife Rachel “Ray” Marshall is the artist credited with the wood engravings in this book.

David Garnett (9 March 1892 – 17 February 1981) was a British writer and publisher. As a child, he had a cloak made of rabbit skin and thus received the nickname “Bunny”, by which he was known to friends and intimates all his life. (Wikipedia)
