A story about a ten-year-old girl, her donkey, Biddy, and a Christmas message. Jan Martin is overjoyed when her father buys a pretty grey donkey for her to ride on the Martin farm. From the housekeeper she learns the lovely Bible legends about donkeys and after a mysterious dream conversation with Biddy on Christmas Eve, she discovers the true meaning of Christmas and gives her dearest possession, Biddy to a young friend. Biddy, however, would soon have been too small for her to ride on, and since she inherits her brother’s pony, her Christmas happiness is complete. [Kirkus Review]
