This book was hand-set in Mercedes type, and printed by Mossen Alcover in Palma de Mallorca May 1954. Original Softcover. Very good- condition. Cover slightly worn. Some minor foxing to the front and rear covers and pages throughout. Bookblock separated from cover. From the reference library of Hans Christian Andersen-Translator Erik Haugaard.

Original Hardcover in protective collector’s Mylar. Brown textured cloth-covered boards, Gilt embossed lettering & clear embossed decoration on spine. Gilt & clear embossed decoration on front cover. Clear embossed identical decoration on back cover. All edges gilt. Besides a faded dampstain to the upper edge of the plates in very good condition with only minor signs of external wear. Cover and spine slightly discoloured. Binding slightly shaky. Contains previous owners name stamped in ink to front pastedown and endpaper. Contains ‘The Museum of Natural History’ original label on front endpaper.

London / Edinburgh and Dublin, William Mackenzie, (1879). Folio. XXVI, 204 pages with 41 stunning full-page lithographs in colour. Wonderful, recent half leather binding with new endpapers applied. Excellent condition. Extraordinarily beautiful publication with quite some romance applied to the pages juxtaposed to the colourful illustrations. Here we find the localities where one was able to catch the illustrated fish, beautifully depicted by skillful 19th century artists.

Few small library stamps (discarded). Also with a contribution by Darwin in the section “Letter to the editor” (Darwin responds to an article “Leaves injured at Night by free radiation”).

Euricius Cordus – Botanologicon: Title with the woodcut device of Cologne-printer Johann Gymnicus, including his Motto, the first line of a Verse from the Aeneid by Virgil ‘Discite Iustitiam Moniti’, 183, [21] pp., 2 blank leaves. The titlepage of the Botanologicon bears the manuscript ownership-entry of Nuremberg’s Astronomer, Philosopher and Mathematician Hieronymus Schreiber [also called Jerôme Schreiber], student-friend of Euricius Cordus’ son Valerius Cordus in Wittenberg and later trustee of Valerius Cordus’ scholarly estate after Valerius Cordus’ premature death in Rome. Dated in the same hand on the titlepage also the entry ‘Anno 1539’, when Valerius Cordus matriculated at Wittenberg and Schreiber already had studied there since May 1532. Interior in excellent condition with some minor staining to very few pages only.
