Titlepage, 8 handcoloured plates with 46 single illustrations of patterns, instructive hand-movements etc. by the author Jane Gaugain, Dedication-page by Jane Gaugain to Lady Henrietta Fergusson, 422 pages with peface, Index of Signs and 185 instructions. Hardcover / Original publisher’s cloth with gilt lettering on boards. Binding firm with endpaper slightly detached but the whole book overall in very good condition with only minor signs of wear. All plates present with beautiful, original 19th century hand-colouring.

With 31 handcoloured illustrations (including Frontispiece and titlepage) by caricaturist Thomas Rowlandson / Volume II: Frontispiece, [1], 277 pages plus 1 page with “Directions to the Binder for placing the Plates”. With 22 (of 24) handcoloured illustrations by caricaturist Thomas Rowlandson. Hardcover / Original half leather with original spine-labels and ornaments. Both Volumes with some rubbing but both in firm, original condition. Interior of Volume I with some mild foxing and fingerstaining only but all plates excellent. Interior of Volume II with a tear and loss of paper to the front free endpaper, some mild foxing, one plate and one textpage (page 11) slightly detached and with fraying). Minor wormholedamage to rear board (neglectable). Overall these two Volumes are in very good condition !

Original Poster – Designed in 1938 during a competition for the XII. Olympic Games in Helsinki, after the Olympic Games in Tokyo were cancelled: “XII. Olimpiskas Speles – Helsinki – Somija – 20.VII – 4.VIII.1940”.

[Helsinki] Finland, A.B.Tilgmann, 1938. Framed Poster measures: 32 cm x 44 cm. Poster itself measures: 25,5 cm x 38,7 cm. The original poster is still in its original frame. Some minor signs of foxing only to the original Poster. Very good condition in strong and bright colours. Very Rare in this condition.

Original Hardcover with half-leather and buckram boards. Gilt lettering and blind design on spine with raised bands with gilt ornament. Very good condition with only minor signs of external wear. Only minor foxing throughout. Some tissue guards loose. With marbled edges and marbled both endpapers and pastedowns. Name of previous owner written in blue ink on free front endpaper “Richard Allen”, also featured within in pencil and dated ‘1832’.
