Hardcover / Modern half-leather with gilt lettering on spine and paper-covered boards. In bespoke made clamshell-box / solander-box. Beautifully restored and bound by a master bookbinder. Including the original endpapers and the original half-title. Front free endpaper and halftitle with dampstain to lower corner only. Dampstain in lower corner of the titlepage only faintly present. One of the rarest titles of Irish Literature and one of the rarest, early gothic-novels / horror-novels. Absolutely scarce and in excellent condition after the beautiful restoration.

Second Edition. Two Volumes (complete set). Dublin, Printed by William Porter, 1799. Small-Octavo (11,5 cm x 17,5 cm). Volume I: 269 pages / Volume II: 326 (of 329) pages [3 pages missing at the end]. Hardcover / Modern, very decorative half-leather bindings with replicated spinelabels in the style of the 18th century. Both Volumes in protective Mylar and now housed in a bespoke Solander Box. Name of Richard Meade of Ballymartle on titlepage of both Volumes. Minor lesion and tear to titlepage of Volume II. Overall very good ! Extremely scarce publication in first or second edition !

Minister Plenipotentiary from the United States of North America, at Paris, who ordered 20 copies)” / Mentioning also as Subscriber: “His Excellency General George Washington, Commander in Chief of all the Forces of the United States of North America”)].

First Dublin Edition. Dublin, Printed by P.Wogan at The Old Bridge and P.Byrne, College-Green, 1784. Octavo (14 cmx 21 cm). [10], LXIX, 825 [unnumbered] pages. Including a lenghty section mentioning the Irish Subscribers to this Dictionary with name and town. Hardcover / Original 18th century full leather with original, red spine-label with gilt lettering. In protective Mylar. Binding rubbed and with some minor loss to leather. The binding firm and strong and endpapers and pastdeowns intact and NOT cracked ! Small signs of a faded dampstain without any consequence to the very good condition throughout. One page with a tear (Letter G). The unpaginated section was collated as complete.

Hardcover / Professionally restored half-leather by using the orginal publisher’s boards. The extremely rare, limited Dryden Edition, here complete and expertly restored. Very good condition with only minor signs of wear. All illustrations in place with the original tissue-guards.
