Handcoloured Copper Engraving. London, for “The History and Survey of London from its Foundation to the Present Time…”, c. 1750. Beautifully Framed. Size of frame with engraving: 43.5 cm x 33.5 cm. Size of the actual engraving: 36 cm x 24 cm. Frame with some minor signs of wear (rubbing to the frame with some discoloration). The engraving in excellent conditon with only faint signs of a former fold to upper left corner.

Original hand-coloured copper engraved vue d’optique. Paris, Mondhare, [c.1750-1780]. Plate Size: 38.7 cm x 23.2 cm. Sheet Size: 44.7 cm x 28. 6 cm Original print. In very good, actually remarkable, condition. Clean and crisp and radiant impression, with only the faintest trace of browning. Some very minor traces of light staining to outer margin corner.

Excellent, original Etching. Artist Proof No. I (AP I), signed and titled in pencil. West Cork, 2008. Beautifully Framed. Size of frame with etching: 56 cm x 86 cm. Size of the actual etching: 49 cm x 79 cm. Excellent, strong and fresh etching in wonderful framing.

6. Egypt – Ortelius, Abraham. (1527 – 1598).

Aegyptus Antiqua.

Original engraving. Antwerp, Ortelius, [c.1595]. Plate Size: 51.2 cm x 35.8 cm. Sheet Size: 58 cm x 43.4 cm. Original map. In very good condition. Discreet tears near lower left and top right. Slight staining to top of sheet. Central vertical fold as issued. Professional repaired wormholes to above centre top border and near centre of map. A very minor hole along each lower vertical border of plate frame. Reverse carries Latin text. The map was orientated with Egypt’s north to the right.

7. World – Ortelius, Abraham. (1527-1598).

Aevi veteris, Typus Geographicus.

Original hand-coloured engraving. Antwerp, Ortelius, 1590. Plate Size: 44 cm x 31 cm. Sheet Size: 53.7 cm x 38.5 cm. Original map. Very good, actually stunning, condition. Really clean and crisp. Generous margins. Reverse recto carries Latin text.

8. Africa. De L’Isle, Guillaume. (1675 – 1726).

Original hand-coloured copper engraving. Augsburg, Jeremiam Wollf, 1710. Plate Size: 57.7 cm x 44.5 cm. Sheet Size: 65.5 cm x 51 cm. Original map. Very good condition. Slight staining barely evident near centre of map. Two minor stains to lower margin of map. Very minor tear to top edge and recto fore edge. Trace of foxing to verso edge.

9. North Africa – Ortelius, Abraham. (1527 – 1598).

Original hand-engraved. Antwerp, Balthasar Moretus, [1624]. Plate Size: 48.8 cm x 33.5 cm. Sheet Size: 58.1 cm x 44.5 cm. Original map. Very good condition. Slight browning evident along sheet edges. Hint of browning along centre fold also. Very minor tears to top edge and top right corner. Map orientated to the north. Latin text on reverse.

10. Americas – Homann, Johann Baptist. (1664 – 1724).

Original hand-coloured engraving. Nürnberg, Homann, 1746. Plate Size: 53 cm x 46 cm. Sheet Size: 56.3 cm x 50 cm. Original map. Very good+ condition. Expertly restored map with reinforced edges. Faintest traces of the professional repairs barely evident such is the quality of the restoration.
