Original engraving. Antwerp, Ortelius, [c.1595]. Plate Size: 51.2 cm x 35.8 cm. Sheet Size: 58 cm x 43.4 cm. Original map. In very good condition. Discreet tears near lower left and top right. Slight staining to top of sheet. Central vertical fold as issued. Professional repaired wormholes to above centre top border and near centre of map. A very minor hole along each lower vertical border of plate frame. Reverse carries Latin text. The map was orientated with Egypt’s north to the right.

Large margin between plate and sheet edges. Some spotting along sheet edges beyond map border. Central vertical fold as issued. Map is orientated to the north.

Repaired tear to left edge of sheet. Minor tear to foot of sheet outside border. Central vertical fold as issued. Map is orientated to the north.

4. Equatorial Guinea – Zatta, Antonio. (1722 – 1804).

Original hand-coloured engraving. Venezia, Antonio Zatta E Figli, 1784. Plate Size: 31 cm x 40 cm. Sheet Size: 51.7 cm x 38.8 cm. Original map. Very good condition. Map orientated to the north. Very minor foxing along top edge of sheet.

5. Morocco – Ortelius, Abraham. (1527 – 1598).

Fezzae et Marocchi regna Africae celeberrima, describebat Abrah Ortelius.

Original hand-coloured engraving. Amsterdam, Blaeu, [c.1650]. Plate Size: 49.5 cm x 38 cm. Sheet Size: 61.4 cm x 51.5 cm. Original, well-margined map. Very good, actually stunning condition. Tiny paper defect and minor tear to outer margins. Repaired minor tear to centre fold at lower edge of sheet. Some minor spotting to margins only. Hint of browning along centre fold. The map was orientated with Morocco’s north to the right.

6. Morocco – Ortelius, Abraham. (1527 – 1598).

Fezzae et Marocchi regna Africae celeberrima, describebat Abrah Ortelius.

Original hand-coloured engraving. Amsterdam, Blaeu, [c.1650]. Plate Size: 49.5 cm x 38 cm. Sheet Size: 60 cm x 51 cm. Original map. Very good condition. Minor tear to centre fold at lower edge of sheet. Some minor spotting to margins. Minor stain to fore edge of recto leaf. Central vertical fold as issued. The map was orientated with Morocco’s north to the right. Latin text on reverse.

7. North Africa – Ortelius, Abraham. (1527 – 1598).

Africae Propriae Tabula, in qua, Punica Regna Vides; Tyrios, et Agenoris Urbem.

Original hand-engraved. Antwerp, Balthasar Moretus, [1624]. Plate Size: 48.8 cm x 33.5 cm. Sheet Size: 58.1 cm x 44.5 cm. Original map. Very good condition. Slight browning evident along sheet edges. Hint of browning along centre fold also. Very minor tears to top edge and top right corner. Map orientated to the north. Latin text on reverse.

8. Morocco / Fez – Sanson d’Abbeville, Nicolas. (1600 – 1667).

Original hand-coloured engraving. Paris, Sanson d’Abbeville, [c. 1658]. Plate Size: 26.3 cm x 20.3 cm. Sheet Size: 32.5 cm x 25 cm. Original map. In very good condition. With only the faintest signs of foxing. Map orientated to the north.

9. Southern Africa – Kircher, Athanasius. (1602 – 1680).

Hydrophylacium Africae Precipuum, in Montibus Lunae Situm, Lacus et Flumina Praecipua Sundens. Ubi et Nova Inventio Originis Nili describitur.

Original engraving. Amsterdam Kircher, [c.1665]. Plate Size: 41.5 cm x 34 cm. Sheet Size: 47.6 cm x 39.2 cm. Original map. In very good condition. Some very light traces of foxing near outer margins. Some very minor ink staining evident near ‘Oceanus Orientasis’ text. Otherwise, a very clean and bright map.

10. Mediterranean – Ortelius, Abraham. (1527 – 1598).
