Two Parts in one Volume (First half year from January to July, 1822). London, Published for C.M.Westmacott, by Hoffmann, 1822. Quarto (20 cm x 27 cm). Portrait-Frontispiece, 214, Portrait Frontispiece, 208 pages plus Index for both quarterly parts with listing of all engravings, scores of original pieces of music, portraits, engravings of the latest, “newest” Parisian Costumes etc. Original Hardcover / 19th – century half leather with gilt lettering on spine. With 11 instead of 23 full-page illustrations of which some included are not called for and others seem to have never been part of the collection. Some minor signs of wear only, a few very faint signs of foxing, a little dusty endpapers but especially the text and illustrations all in generally very good or even better condition with some minor signs of wear only. Extremely Rare !

Name of historical preowner Richard Meade in ink on titlepages. Rare in this very amazing restored condition.

Discusses Virginity (and what it is), How Virginity may be lost, How a woman should order herself in order to conception, [″A woman that would conceive should observe that she does not use the act of coition too often; for gatiety gluts the womb and renders it unfit for office (!) – There are two things that demonstrate this: i.e., that common whores (who often use copulation) have never, or rarely, any children: for the grass seldom grows in a path that is commonly trodden in. The other is, that women, whose husbands have been long absent, do, after copulation with them again, conceive very quickly” / “Women ought to take great care that their imagination be pure and dear, that their child may be well formed”].
