Lilias Margitson Rider Haggard M.B.E, 1892 – 1968 was the fourth and youngest child of the British writer Sir Henry Rider Haggard and Mariana Louisa Margitson/ she was educated at Saint Felix School, Southwold, Suffolk and was awarded an MBE for her work as an auxiliary nurse during World War I/ she was a member of Norfolk County Council from 1949 to 1952 and in 1953 was elected President of the Norfolk Rural Craftsmen’s Guild/ she wrote a number of books, including a biography of her father entitled “The Cloak That I Left”/ she is buried at Ditchingham, Norfolk.
This book is dedicated to the author’s mother, Mariana Louisa Margitson/ other books by the author include: “Norfolk Life”, “A Country Scrapbook”, “Too Late for Tears”, “The Rabbit Skin Cap” etc.
