Very good condition with only minor signs of wear. This book is from Stanley Cavell’s library with several, very interesting annotations and markings by his hand.
The author Points out where Sartre’s book, “L’Etre et le Neant” belongs in the successive phases of his growth. Sartre was an outspoken atheist – “I am not concerned with God, I am concerned with man…I am neither materialist, nor spiritualist.” Refers to Sartre’s articles “Materialisme et Revolution” which were published in the “Temps Modernes”. Document’s Sartre’s involvement in the politics of France and of the world as a whole. The book akes into account the central idea that Sartre was, first and foremost, dealing with ethical problems.
