Hardcover / Original full calf, recently rebacked in beautiful style of the 18th century by an english master-bindery. With gilt lettering and ornament to the new spine. Original boards preserved. Excellent condition after the restoration with Exlibris / Bookplates of three previous owners: William Bartlett / Erik Haugaard / and most importantly with the anonymous armorial bookplate (″Libertas”) of George Evans, 3rd Baron Carbery (died 1783) [The titlepage signed by George Evans, 3rd Baron Carbery]. Wonderfully clean and on excellent paper.

Small cutout to endpaper. Smaller, faded dampstain from page 247 onwards. Dampstain to both endpapers. Text otherwise clean and bright ! Name of William L. Webb in ink on titlepage.

Inscribed to the Right Honourable Sir Robert Walpole”. Hardcover / Original, 18th century full calf. In protective Mylar. Endpaper with small tear. The engraving “Spring”, loosened and with damage to upper margin (effecting the image). The three other engravings in place and in very good condition (see photographic images). Provenance-Entry: “Eliza Hungerford, March 5, 1771” [Elizabeth Hungerford].

Includes two folded maps in Volume One: First Map: “A Plan of the present Chanels [sic] of the Rivers Hiddekel or Tigris and Euphrates exhibiting the Site of Moses Garden and River of Eden” / Second Map: “The Situation of the Land & Garden of Eden together with the Rivers of Paradise as they are imagined to have been Situate by some Writers who thought that the Garden of Eden was planted in that which was afterwards called the Holy Land”. Original Hardcover / 18th century full leather with new spinelabels. All three Volumes are now in protective Mylar. with dustjacket. All Volumes with some damage to spine but all still firm and holding. Overall some faint staining and foxing only at very few locations because of the excellent paper-quality of this publication. Later, 19th century Hardcover / Half – leather with gilt lettering and ornament to spine. Good condition with only minor signs of external wear. Spine slightly damaged and broken. Bookblock tight and clean besides a faded dampstain and some lesions to outer margiuns of several pages. Needs some attention from a bookbinder. Exlibris / Bookplate of Henry J.B.Clements on pastedown [Clements was landowner in County Mayo and County Galway (Rosshill House connection)].
